Chief Rabbi of Miskolc, born in Brezován Oct. 1830, died in Miskolc 1908. He was a student of Baneth Ezekiel, Chief Rabbi of Nitra and Rabbi Jakab Fleissig of Galgóc. He began his rabbinical career as a pastor at the Lipótvár prison, and then worked in Nádudvar for 17 years. Here was his disciple General Vogel Simon, a later infantry general. In 1878 he was elected chief rabbi by the community of Miskolc and performed a blessed priestly activity here until his death. He enjoyed extraordinary authority without sectarian distinction.
